Billy Cotsman

Billy Cotsman is a Tax Intern at Specialty Tax Group, where he supports cost segregation studies and fixed asset analyses for commercial and residential real estate clients. In his role, Billy assists with data analysis, asset classification, and documentation to help ensure accurate reporting and maximize tax efficiency for clients.

Billy is currently a junior majoring in Economics at the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia. Through his academic studies and hands-on internship experience, he has developed a strong foundation in financial analysis, tax strategy, and business operations. He brings a detail-oriented mindset and a strong willingness to learn to every engagement.

Prior to joining Specialty Tax Group, Billy gained experience as a Financial Analyst Intern at Bubble Rock Advisors, where he worked alongside advisors supporting small businesses with financial planning, accounting, and strategic analysis.

Outside of work and school, Billy enjoys playing basketball and spending time at the

lake. He is enthusiastic about continuing to grow his technical skills and gaining real-

world experience in tax and accounting as he builds his professional career.

Why did you choose to intern at Specialty Tax Group?

I was excited about the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in cost segregation and

tax strategy while working with a team that values learning and collaboration. STG

offered real exposure to client work and the chance to build practical skills.

 

What is your favorite part of your internship so far?

Getting to see how classroom concepts translate into real-world applications. I enjoy

learning how data and analysis directly impact tax savings for clients.

 

What are you hoping to learn during your time at STG?

I want to deepen my understanding of cost segregation, fixed asset analysis, and the

overall tax planning process while continuing to grow professionally.

 

What’s your work style?

I’m detail-oriented, curious, and eager to learn. I like asking questions and staying

organized to make sure I’m contributing effectively to the team.

 

What do you enjoy doing outside of work and school?

I enjoy playing basketball, staying active, and spending time at the lake with friends and

family.
